Facial FAQ's
Can I call to book an appointment?
Yes, if you're not in a hurry to get on the schedule. The absolute best way to get an appointment is by booking it online. You can do so from your computer or phone on Facebook, Yelp, Vagaro and here. If you forgot your login name or password, please do not create a duplicate account, since all your service and purchase history is attached to your initial account. Instead, have Vagaro reset your password or email your login information.
What if I can't find an available appointment for weeks out?
Add your name to the waitlist. Select your desired date and scroll down past "Sorry, they're booked" to the bottom of the page. Click on "Add to Waitlist."
Do I need to arrive early for my services?
If possible, on your first visit, so I can review your consultation form with you and perform your face mapping skin analysis. Ten to fifteen minutes should be plenty of time. It's best if you complete and submit the Skin Care & Waxing Consultation Form prior to your visit, otherwise you will need to fill it out when you arrive.
Do I need to confirm my appointment?
YES! When you schedule your appointment online you will immediately receive your appointment details via email and/or text message. You select how you want to receive this information when you create an account. A confirmation request will be sent two days (48-hours) prior to your scheduled appointment date and time. If your appointment is still not confirmed the morning of, every effort will be made to reach you to confirm it.
-
If I can't reach you, your appointment block will be released and given to the first person on the wait list for that day. So make sure your contact information is up to date, especially your cell number!
-
If you "NO SHOW" for your appointment and you have a pre-paid visit as with a facial package, promotional deal or VIP Club credits, you forfeit the visit and the credits will be deducted from your account.
Can I wear my contact lenses?
As long as you're not getting your lashes tinted, you can. If you're getting a facial peel it is not recommended, but if it can't be avoided, let us know and we will take extra precautions around your eyes.
What's included with my facial?
For explicit details on each menu item, click on Schedule and go to Services.
Basically, the signature facial includes a pre cleanse, an ultra sonic deep cleanse under steam, exfoliation, and a relaxing massage (face, ears, neck, upper back, shoulders, décolletée, arms and hands). The facial is designed with a customized cleanser, masque, toner, serums, moisturizer, eye cream and lip balm. If you're looking for a more targeted treatment, as with acne or aging skin, it is recommended that you book an add-on with your signature facial to allow for more time, if needed. Not sure what to select? Most add-on's are 15 to 30 minutes extra, with the exception of the acne clear (60 additional minutes). Pick what sounds good to you and we'll select what your face wants during your service.
What are extractions?
Extractions are another term for professional blackhead removal or pimple "popping." They are included with the acne clear add-on only (combined with the 60-minute Luscious Lotus Signature Facial). If minimal extractions are requested (like on the nose and chin), I can do it for you but it may cut into your luxury time. I recommend that you at least add on the detox gel deep pore treatment to soften the impactions before extracting. However, for best results with acne and breakout prone skin, chose the acne clear add on. The processes included will prep the skin and soften impactions for easy removal, kill bacteria, calm irritation and reduce inflammation. I don't want you to leave looking like Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer!
Will I break out after my facial?
No. The facial, extractions and even acid peels will not "bring out" pimples or blackheads. In fact, it's more likely that you will notice a clearing effect on your skin. Most breakouts occur because of pore-clogging ingredients, allergies to those ingredients or product residue. All the products used on your skin at Lotus Blossom are non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. As well, you will receive hot towels and a clean water rinse to ensure no soapy residue is left on your fresh face.
What does non-comedogenic mean?
A comedone is a blackhead or pimple, so if it's non-comedogenic, it won't clog your pores or cause blackheads.
You're the best judge as to how your skin is affected by certain ingredients. However, if you already have acne-prone skin, I recommend that you verify your product ingredients against a standard list of comedogenic ingredients.
Beware, just because some products claim to be "non-comedogenic," "non-acnegenic," "oil-free," "organic," "vegan," "dermatologist tested," or "dermatologist approved" they are not always free of comedogenic ingredients. These terms are not regulated and a company can use them however they want. You will find many "organic" products contain some of the worst offenders on this list (like organic coconut oil)! If you're breaking out lately and have started a new product that has any of these ingredients, stop using it to see if your blemishes clear up.
Here's a basic list in PDF format that may help.
How many facials will I need before I see results?
One. You will immediately notice firmer, tighter skin and a glowing appearance. If you're seeking a more corrective result, as with extreme skin conditions such as sagging, melasma (hormone induced pigmentation), severe acne or rosacea, a series of PCA Skin® peels are recommended. A series is 3 to 6 facials in a row, between 2 to 4 weeks apart, depending on your skin type, level of resilience and the condition that you're seeking to correct.
Will my skin actually peel off with a facial peel?
No. Those types of peels are considered medium depth or deeper and are performed under a medical license using very high concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and / or phenol acids.
Lotus Blossom's peels are progressive rather than aggressive, giving you dramatic results without unnecessary and unwanted trauma or downtime. Our peels are considered light depth or "superficial" and are a blend of some or all of the following: Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), such as malic acid (from apples), tartaric acid (from grapes), mandelic acid (from bitter almonds), citric acid (from citrus fruits), lactic acid (found in milk and sugars), and glycolic acid (found in sugars), Beta hydroxy acids (BHA), such as salicylic acid (from white willow bark), Blended TCA, or those with lower percentages of TCA combined with other acids and enzymes, Retinoids (vitamin A derivatives), such as Retinol or Resorcinol, Kojic Acid, a by-product in the fermentation process of malting rice and a chelation agent produced by several species of fungi, and; Proteolytic Enzymes such as those from papaya, pineapple, rice or pumpkin.
What should I expect during and after the peel?
During your peel you may experience a slight tingling, burning, itching, stinging or warm flushing. This will fade quickly within a few minutes. During the next few hours afterward, you may experience some tightening of the skin, sensitivity and pinkness, a little like how a faint sunburn feels. This should dissipate within a day or two. For some people, a light flaking or "shedding" may begin within 2–3 days after treatment, usually in the "parentheses" around the mouth and lip area. Some people do not have visible peeling at all. In most cases, exfoliation is at a cellular level and not apparent to the naked eye, although you'll notice a tighter, firmer and visibly clearer complexion.
It is impossible to pre-determine how much peeling will occur, since so many factors are involved, such as skin type and condition, age, etc. Each person's skin is a unique combination of their DNA, environment, lifestyle choices and product usage. If there is any flaking or shedding, the process usually subsides within 5-7 days. You will be given a light exfoliant to use in the event of any flaking. Infrequently, a small scab or blister may develop (usually over a pre-existing lesion, such as acne or a scaly patch). If this occurs, it will not result in a permanent mark as long as you don't pick or pull it off! Any flaking or peeling should not be tampered with at all! Use the post peel products prescribed and leave your face alone!
-
With any peel, be sure to HYDRATE inside and out!
-
Stay out of prolonged, direct sunlight, as with sunbathing or tanning beds!
-
Wear at least an SPF 30 on your face, neck and décolletée daily.
For a corrective PCA Skin® peel, it is very important to follow the pre and post-peel instructions. Using the PCA Skin® daily care products prior to your peel will properly prepare your skin for the treatment and optimize your results afterward, nourishing, strengthening and protecting your skin.
What about my hair?
Your hair will not be as fashionable as when you first arrive. Please let me know in advance if you need to keep your hair in a presentable condition, and we can skip the scalp massage.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
It's okay! Lotus Blossom is super busy and I know that sometimes things can happen! It's usually easy for me to fill your spot so you don't have to worry about annoying me, as long as I have enough notice. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment online up to 8 hours prior. If you are unable to do so, PLEASE SEND A TEXT MESSAGE TO MY CELL at 310-867-4692.
-
BE aware, if you have a Groupon and you "no-show" for your appointment, your voucher will be redeemed immediately. You can still reschedule and your voucher will be honored, however, if you no-show the second time around, you lose your voucher and will not receive a refund. Any future appointments will be charged at full price.
-
For all clients, 2 no-shows will result in deposits for future services. You will be asked for a credit card payment up front (equal to the service cost) to secure your future appointment.
Still have questions?
A text message to my cell is the fastest method, but you can also send an email. Please remember, I am a one-woman-show so I cannot answer if I'm with a client. I try to reply to emails daily, but some days get away from me. If you have not received a response by the end of the day, please try again. And if you had a service scheduled by me via text, but did not receIve a booking confirmation, TEXT ME AGAIN!
Thank you for choosing Lotus Blossom!
